Botanical Soceity of America

Visitors, welcome to the Botanical Society of America web site!

The Society was founded in 1893. We represent professional botanists, plant scientists, educators, students and amateur plant science enthusiasts around the world. Our primary purpose is to promote botany, the field of basic science dealing with the study and inquiry into the form, function, development, diversity, reproduction, evolution, and uses of plants and their interactions within the biosphere.

Albert Einstein once said, "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them." You're right, he wasn't a famous botanist, but his thinking is right on. More than ever, the world needs creative minds going into the plant sciences... Explore career options in the plant sciences through the Careers in Botany section and visit “BOTANY” - science from the students' perspective to find out more about the path to becoming a scientist.
